Beatriz Carrillo de los Reyes, born in Palma del Río in 1975, holds a degree in Social Anthropology and a diploma in Social Work. She has a distinguished career advocating for the rights of the Roma people and equality. In 2001, she founded the first movement of university-educated Roma women in Spain.
In 2017, she was appointed Second Vice President of the State Council of the Roma People, becoming the first woman to hold this position.
As a PSOE Member of Parliament for Seville from 2019 to 2023, she chaired the State Pact Commission against Gender Violence, led the approval of the Equal Treatment and Non-Discrimination Act, and promoted the recognition of antigypsyism as a hate crime. She has worked on initiatives to improve university access for Roma girls and young women and to include Roma history in school curricula.
She has also presided over the Federation of Roma Women's Associations (FAKALI), earning awards such as the Silver Cross of the Civil Guard and the Gold Medal of the Seville Provincial Council for her fight against discrimination.
On December 8, 2023, she was appointed Director General for Equal Treatment and Non-Discrimination and Against Racism in the Ministry of Equality.
