Description: The docufiction Ulysses from Ghana is inspired by the play Slaves, written by Ghanaian author Mohamed Ben Abdallah. The transatlantic trade depicted in the play marked one of the darkest chapters in recent world history. The docufiction also intertwines the play's story with commentary from contemporary Ghanaians on new forms of modern slavery, as well as remnants of racial discrimination worldwide, as illustrated by the Black Lives Matter movement. The film explores how catharsis can be achieved while not forgetting the cruel treatment of slaves, envisioning a better world where prejudice no longer prevails.
