PhD. in Anthropology and researcher at the National Institute of Anthropology and History since 1994 to date. She is currently Director of the Ethnohistory. Directorate of INAH and Head of the National Research Program on Afrodescendants and Cultural Diversity at the same institute and professor in Afrodescendants, Heritage and Cultural Diversity in Mexico in the postgraduate course of History and Ethnohistory at the National School of Anthropology and History, with recognition of UNESCO Chair from 2016. She was president of the Scientific Committee of the International Project: The Slave Route: resistance, freedom and heritage, UNESCO from 2011 to 2015. She was recently distinguished with the Daniel Cosío Villegas 2024 Award of the National Institute of Historical Studies of the Revolutions of Mexico
